Principal Software Engineer with 15+ years of experience building resilient distributed systems, leading engineering teams, and scaling cloud infrastructure on AWS.
I'm a Principal Software Engineer based in Munich, Germany. Over the past 15+ years, I've designed and operated production systems that serve millions of users, built and grown engineering teams, and driven technical and organisational decisions at scale.
I've been at Atlassian since 2017 — first as a Site Reliability Engineer at Opsgenie (pre-acquisition), then as Engineering Manager leading the Change Management team under Jira Service Management. Along the way I've worn the SRE, EM, and IC hats simultaneously, which gives me an unusually wide view of what it takes to ship reliable software fast.
I care deeply about observability, reliability, and the operational reality of systems once they're in production. A good system is one that doesn't wake people up at 3am — and when it does, recovers gracefully.
A track record built across startups, scale-ups, and enterprise.
Started as SRE at Opsgenie, a mission-critical incident management SaaS serving enterprise on-call teams worldwide. After acquisition by Atlassian in 2018, took on engineering management responsibilities — leading the SRE team, then transitioning to lead the Change Management product team under Jira Service Management. Responsible for technical leadership, architecture decisions, delivery, hiring, and growing engineers.
Developed and maintained SOM (Service Order Management), a SOA platform enabling enterprise systems to collaborate and integrate. Built real-time monitoring tools, managed the full DevOps lifecycle, and containerised the development environment.
Designed, developed, and maintained a bank-customer Legal Tracking System handling debt tracking, cash proceeds, and written warnings — widely used by bank personnel and attorneys. Owned the full stack from design to infra management on Linux/RHEL application servers.
What I build, break, and monitor at scale.
